These terms and conditions, together with any other written information brought to your attention before we confirm your booking, shall form the basis of your contract with Tour Guide Agent.
Tour Guide Agent is a trading name of Expert Excursions Ltd, which is a company registered in Scotland, company number SC645204 and having our registered office at Clyde Offices, 2nd Floor, 48 West George Street, Glasgow, G2 1BP (‘us’, or ‘we’), in respect of the relevant tour guide booking (together referred to in these terms and conditions as ‘bookings’ or ‘tours’) to be provided by us. Our website is located at www.tourguideagent.com.
We endeavour to ensure that the information and prices on our website and any other media are accurate; however occasionally changes and errors occur and we reserve the right to correct prices and other details in such circumstances.
All tour guide bookings are sold subject to availability and suitability and are not confirmed until you receive your booking confirmation and invoice from us.’

Business Hours
Our office is open 09:00 – 17:00 Edinburgh/London time, Monday to Friday. We are closed on 1-2 January and 24, 25, 26 & 31 December.
All of the tour guides that we book for you are self-employed members of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association, unless stated otherwise by us. As we are a booking agent for these tour guides, all bookings with us are made as an agent and we have no liability in connection with these bookings. The contract for guiding services is between you and the guide.
We will pair your request to the suitability and availability of a guide, guiding fees / conditions should be agreed directly between yourselves and your guide prior to the start of the tour.
The tour guides we book for you are self-employed, freelance tour guides. Read more about Pricing for average/guideline rates charged by guides. Fees charged by guides can vary as guides set their own rates based on the requirements of each individual tour request.
All fees should be paid directly to Tour Guide Agent in advance of tours unless agreed otherwise with us in writing. Tour Guide Agent acts as a conduit and all monies will be passed to guide directly after tour is completed.
A Tour Guide Agent Booking Fee of £30 is charged for each guide booked.
For bookings that require a turnaround of 1 business day or less, a RUSH Booking Fee of £75 applies for each guide booked.
All booking fees are non-refundable.
If you wish to cancel your booking with us, you should inform us in writing by email to [email protected] as soon as possible – the effective date of cancellation will be the date upon which we receive such written notification. Unless explicitly agreed otherwise in writing by us, in the event of cancellation by you, refunds may be issued by us and the guide booked only as set out below:
Cancellation of a Half Day Tour
Cancellation 7 or more full days before tour departure: 100% refund.
Cancellation less than 7 full days, but more than 1 business day before tour departure: 50% refund.
Cancellation less than 1 business day before tour departure: No refund.
The Booking Fee is non-refundable.
Cancellation of a Full Day Tour
Cancellation 14 or more full days before tour departure: 100% refund.
Cancellation less than 14 full days before tour departure: No refund.
The Booking Fee is non-refundable.
Cancellation of an Extended Tour
Cancellation 30 or more full days before tour departure: 100% refund.
Cancellation less than 30 full days but more than 14 full days before tour departure: 50% refund.
Cancellation less than 14 days before tour departure: No refund.
The Booking Fee is non-refundable.
Venue Tickets
All tickets to venues and attractions, including Edinburgh Castle and Stirling Castle are non-refundable if not used on the date and time booked for.
Tour Type Definitions
Half Day Tour: Tour in duration of up to 4 hours.
Full Day: Tour in duration of more than 4 hours, in one day.
Extended Tour: Tours that span over one calendar day.
The Tour Type of your booking is indicated in your invoice.
Business Days are Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00 Edinburgh/London time. All refunds are issued to the original payment method.
Tour Guide Agent can book entrances to most major venues and attractions for your group/clients such as castles, these fees are non-refundable once booked (some venues may incur a booking fee, we will inform you of all costs involved before booking). Our tour guides enjoy free entry to most venues and attractions in Scotland.
For both safety and tour quality purposes we strongly recommend that walking tours maintain a maximum of 25 guests per guide.
Guides may require travel expenses depending on where they are required to start or finish a tour. If a guide is required to stay away from home for a booking, meals and accommodation must be provided or paid for. We will inform you of any costs involved at time of booking.
Upon confirmation of your booking you will be issued with an invoice on behalf of the guide for guiding services, and an invoice from us for our booking fee and any extras requested.
To simplify our service to you we act as the payment handler and you pay all costs for your booking to us directly. We pass on the guide’s fee to the guide.
We accept payments by Bank Transfer. For invoice amounts of £1,500 or less we also accept card payments online via Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.
Please note that you must meet any bank transfer fees incurred. Tour Guide Agent must receive the full invoice amount NET of any fees.
We recommend that our clients and the guests on their tours / bookings with us have suitable travel, medical, and cancellation insurance.
Where our websites contain links to other sites and resources provided by third parties, these links are provided for your information only. Such links should not be interpreted as approval by us of those linked websites or of any information you may obtain from them.
If any provision of these terms and conditions is found to be illegal or unenforceable, that shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remainder of these terms and conditions.
These Terms and Conditions do not create any rights in favour of third parties under the Contract (Third Party Rights) (Scotland) Act 2017 to enforce or otherwise invoke any provision of these Terms and Conditions.
To the extent permitted by law, these terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Scots law and any matter or claim arising from them shall be dealt with only by the Scottish courts.
None of these terms are intended to contravene or contradict the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and your statutory rights under any such legislation are not affected.
